Letting Go / Painted Skin

Letting go.
My blog, laptop and handphone are probably the only 3 things that store my memories other than my brain.
Photos, messages, msn chatlogs, contact numbers, journal entries etc.
Sometimes, memories fade.
Over time, memories blur.
But my blog, laptop and handphone don’t. They keep my precious memories clear and close to my heart.
BUT I AM A PERSON WAY
TOO
NOSTALGIC.

I refused to press the “Delete” button even though some things are already over. Many times I tried to force my finger to press that damn button, but I keep failing.

Then I realised, that I’m really no good at letting go.
Let me go into a period of self-reflection.
Let me emerge as a person with more courage.
Let me learn, how to let go.
LETTING GO
To let go does not mean to stop caring,
it means I can’t do it for someone else.
To let go is not to cut myself off,
it’s the realization I can’t control another.
To let go is not to enable,
but allow learning from natural consequences.
To let go is to admit powerlessness, which means
the outcome is not in my hands.
To let go is not to try to change or blame another,
it’s to make the most of myself.
To let go is not to care for,
but to care about.
To let go is not to fix,
but to be supportive.
To let go is not to judge,
but to allow another to be a human being.
To let go is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes,
but to allow others to affect their destinies.
To let go is not to be protective,
it’s to permit another to face reality.
To let go is not to deny,
but to accept.
To let go is not to nag, scold or argue,
but instead to search out my own shortcomings and correct them.
To let go is not to adjust everything to my desires,
but to take each day as it comes and cherish myself in it.
To let go is not to criticize or regulate anybody,
but to try to become what I dream I can be.
To let go is not to regret the past,
but to grow and live for the future. To let go is to fear less and love more…

To let go is to fear less and love more.

Painted Skin

Starring: Betty Sun, Zhou Xun, Chen Kun, Zhao Wei, Qi Yuwu

Directed By: Gordon Chan

Released By: 26th September 2008

Run Time: 103 mins.

Genre: Fantasy / Action

Terror strikes a town when people start turning up dead with their heart ripped out clean. Suspicion centres around a mysterious woman named Xiao Wei (Zhou Xun) who was taken in by army general Wong (Chen Kun). Soon, his wife Pei Rong (Vicki Zhao Wei) and his one-time close ally Pang Long (Donnie Yen) realise that she is indeed an evil jinn-like demon who has fallen in love with the general. Seeking to expose the demonic seductress, they realise that it can all only end in conquering love and hate through wisdom and sacrifice.

I didnt expect the movie to be that slow. Its a typical love story plot where a fox demon was saved by Zhao Wei’s husband and brought back home. The demon wanted to get rid of Zhao Wei. Overall, I feel that this is a show you can watch if you feel like killing time.

Mamma Mia!

Mamma Mia!

Starring: Pierce Brosnan, Amanda Seyfried, Colin Firth, Meryl Streep

Directed By: Phyllida Lloyd

Released By: 18th September 2008

Run Time: 108 mins.

Genre: Music / Comedy

Meryl Streep leads an all-star cast as an independent, single mother who owns a small hotel on an idyllic Greek island. Donna (Streep) is about to let go of Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), the daughter she’s raised alone. On a quest to find her father to walk her down the aisle, Sophie brings back three men from Donna’s past to the Mediterranean paradise they visited 20 years earlier. Based on the smash hit musical seen by over 30 million people worldwide with a gross to date of US$2 billion. It is set to songs by popular ’70s group ABBA.

Sparing the unprofessional singing of the absolutely talented and vibrant cast, we have a movie-musical that is simply made to entertain the crowds. A joyous and upbeat pace prevents the movie from sinking into a mellow dramatic mood, despite some of the heavier themes it deals with such as love lost and family. Expect lots of drama, singing, dancing and dazzling visuals as the cast sing to the songs of ABBA. ABBA probably never sounded this good and fun in a very long time. Expect the unexpected from the usual solemn and serious Streep, who turns in a fabulous performance brimming with vibrance and energy. Can’t find a better way to spend the afternoon/night? Head down to the cinemas for some fun mamma mia! highly recommended.

Disaster Movie

Disaster Movie

Starring: Roland Kickinger, Carmen Electra, Johnny Lewis, Kimberly Kardashian

Directed By: Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer

Released By: 18th September 2008

Run Time: 88 mins.

Genre: Comedy

On one fateful night, a group of ridiculously attractive twenty-somethings try to make their way to safety while every known natural disaster and catastrophic event - asteroids, twisters, earthquakes and the works - hit the city and their path. This eventually brings them to try and solve the series of unfortunate events to end the rampant destruction.

I was not exactly keen on watching spoof movies as i believe they’re just a waste of time and money. Yet, unique circumstances of finding virtually no appealing major movies to watch at the box office on a movie trip actually led me to agree to watching this movie as a means to pass time. What came as a pleasant surprise was that my time was in fact quite well-spent in the cinema watching this movie. The movie doesn’t claim to boast glamourous A-list stars or sophisticated technical wizardry and neither were the jokes elaborately desgined to tickle the brain margins of intellects but it was the frivolous absurdness of the storyline that lends an unadorned charm to a film that guilelessly lives up to its catastrophic title. For those who believe that this is the directors’ attempt to ‘make another stupid movie and earn some more money fast’, they saw it coming from the movie title didn’t they? It is an unspoken deal that there will be no plot in a spoof movie whatsoever and the whole purpose is just to have a laugh at our senseless inner selves. And this movie sure makes this pretty effortless.

L.O.V.E / Wall.E

L.O.V.E.

I know, I know, I know, my finger look long and retard…

What is LOVE?
Have you all ever ask yourself this question?
Love?
Have you ever been in love before?
How do you know that you are in love?
Is it true that falling in love with someone is very easy?
American’s belief that when we are born to this world, the god has already created our another part, so which means to say we came into this world in pair, so the mission or objective for us to born in this world is to go through all the life experiences, emotional crisis like hurt, disappointment, sadness, anger, happy and etc and when we have learnt or been through enough of it, that will be the time for us to meet our the other one.

But the problem is, even if the right one has come, how do we know that he/she is the right one?
The feelings?
The atmosphere?

Or maybe the feelings that is so special is not love is affection.

Many people mistaken affection as love.

So with all this feelings hidden inside us, how do we know that we are really in love?

Wall.E

Starring: Benjamin Burtt, Fred Willard, Jeff Garlin
Directed By: Andrew Stanton
Released By: 28th August 2008
Run Time: 103 mins.
Genre: Animated

What if mankind had to leave Earth and somebody forgot to turn the last robot off? WALL-E, a robot, spends every day doing what he was made for. But soon, he will discover what he was meant for. From Academy Award-winning writer-director, Andrew Stanton (”Finding Nemo”), Disney-Pixar’s “WALL-E” is the story of one robot’s comic adventures as he chases his dream across the galaxy.

Pixar and Disney have definitely combined and synergised to their fullest potential yet, with Pixar’s strength in 3-D animation and Disney’s ability to touch your heart with wonderful story telling. What sets this animated movie apart from the rest is it’s ability to convey the message of love through machines and sometimes, expressing it without spoken words through gestures is the best way. Their love simply touched your soul and at least make me have that ‘ awww…’ moments. Story-wise the underlying ‘go green’ and ’save the earth’ meaning is a powerful yet subtle enough to awaken viewers who see the need to save our planet before it becomes what the movie have predicted with rubbish piling up taller than skyscrapers and eventually inhabitable for life. Animation wise, Pixar maintained it’s usual high animation standards. There are many notable and memorable scenes most of which, no surprises for guessing, are the romantic love sequences the plain old ‘old fashion’ braving through the weathers for your loved ones and an interesting , touching and enchanting love dance of Wall.E and Eve is simply a delight to watch. Get ready to be touched and entertained.
