A night with Christina Aguilera
WoW~ Christina Aguilera is one big vocal powerhouse!!! I dunno how this pin-size woman manage to fit a huge lung within her. She actually has the stamina to keep belting out all the vocally challenging songs one after another till the end without actually showing any fatigue through her voice. *salutes!!*
I bought the $350 tickets, and I’m not regretting it as it is just worth every cents! Daniel was with me for this concert, which we both were totally enthralled about attending this concert and were looking forward to a night of feast to our ears and eyes.
As for usual practise, concerts will never start on the time specified on the ticket. When we took this pic, the crowd was still slowly flowing in. Surprisingly, there were lots of caucasians attending this concert, approximately 40% of the crowd were actually caucasians.
This concert is her Back to Basics tour. Most of the songs that were included are songs from her current album, Back to Basics. Her opening act was really very impressive as she started off with Ain’t No Other Man. The crowd just went deranged!
However, the sound system was actually rather disappointing as it was kinda jarring at the initial phase of her concert which didnt do justice to her mind-blowing vocal. As we know, Christina tends to overdo her singing at times, and with the blaring of trumpets at the background, she sounds as thou she was straining and competing to be louder than the overwhelming trumpets and horns which was quite unpleasant to the ear. Towards the later part of the concert where she departed from the songs from her current album, she sounded better as there were no longer noisy trumpets and horns blaring which had masked her impressive voice for the first few tracks.
She belted songs like Fighter, What a girl wants, Hurt, Candyman, Beautiful… and even Lady Marmalade. The crowd totally went bonkers and high when she sang Lady Marmalade, you can actually see people in the audience uprooting from their chairs and dancing to the song. She should had just insisted on singing solo for the Lady Marmalade right from the start as it simply just sounded distinctly better than the collaboration version with Pink, Mya and Lil’Kim.
My favourite performance was Beautiful. She was pitch perfect through out the song, and it was towards the ending of the song where she drew her mic away from her mouth while everyone in the audience were cheering and applauding for her and waited for everyone to quieten down before she said “I love singapore”. Afterwhich she received an even greater applaude from the audience.
She ended the night with the song Fighter, which thereafter everyone stood up and applauded and cheered for the last time.
This is one of those concert that will forever imprint a rememberance in my mind, she is such an awesome performer with whole lot of stage appeal!
